I recently started playing mass effect as an example, and I couldn't stop playing till I had played through 1 and 2 and thought to take a small break before 3. It needs to grab your attention early and build up as you go. I do hear the game gets better in later chapters but that should never be a good thing about games. So much filler content which is just you walking/dodge dashing between rated combat sections that are easy to S rank on hard just boring to do so because you have to play the way the game forces you to. On hard the fighting so far just feels really repetitive.Ĭould cut out 70% of the chapter by trimming levels and the game would be improved. They just feature "bonus" damage by being timed correctly with your button presses. Your attacks are also timed to the beat so it can feel slugish if you came from say, Kingdom hearts 2. In order to get good ratings you have to play in a rather boring way by timing everything to the beat. The levels are long and fights are only in certain sections, enemies are not just spawned in places to hit, it has to be in sections because of a badly designed rating system in every single fight. I plan on finishing it but so far the first 2 chapters working on 3 are un-impressive. I can't really understand the praise this game gets, like people are so used to bad games that when a game is slightly good, it suddenly needs protecting by people who will defend it as if their life was on the line.
